IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR YOUR ARRIVAL:

UKRAINE IS VISA FREE FOR EU COUNTRIES

Citizens of the European Union do not need visa for entering Ukraine, if the length (duration?) of stay does not exceed 90 days from the first day of entry, and does not foresee professional occupation or intend study.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

For entering Ukraine, the entire period of stay and exit from the country a VALID PASSPORT is required.

PASS VALIDITY

The embassy recommends that the passport should be valid at least 3 months longer than the intended period of stay in Ukraine. The entry with any other document than passport is NOT possible.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

UKRAINIAN; RUSSIAN language is also widespread.

CURRENCY

Hryvnia. With national currency hryvnia (UAH), you can pay everywhere. The best exchange rate you get in the widespread exchange offices. Almost in all the hotels, restaurants and shops you can pay by credit card. In Ukraine there are numerous ATMs and taking money from the account functions well.

ARRIVING OPTIONS TO LVIV, KYIV:

  Flight

You can reach Ukraine by direct or indirect flights from almost all of German airports located in bigger cities. The top airlines for this direction are Ukrainian Airlines and WizzAir. Also Lufthansa, LOT, German Wings offer flights to Ukraine for a moderate price.

Are you coming from Austria or Switzerland? Then Austrian Airlines and Swiss International are a good choice for this purpose.

The most important international airport in Ukraine is Kiev-Boryspil. It’s located 30 km away on the east of Kyiv and connected with the city by six lines highway. The airport and the city are well connected with “sky-buses” (every half an hour), and taxi. It takes around one hour to get form the airport to the city center. From Kyiv-Boryspil one can reach by plane several national airports throughout the Ukraine.

International airport Lviv (Lvov) is just a few kilometers away of the city center. It has been modernized in the period from 2009 to 2011 purposefully for Euro-2012 and after that has expanded.

From Lviv (Lvov) airport one arrives to the city center within 20 minutes by car.

Arrival possibilities to Lviv

  Train         

Ukraine is much closer than you think!

There is daily going overnight train with sleeping vans from/to Budapest (15 hours), from/to Bratislava(19,5 hours), from/to Krakow (6,5 hours).

The train which departure from Vienna main train station at 22:08 (Monday to Thursday, sleeping vans) arrives in Lviv (Lvov) at 0:02 over next day.

From Vienna, there is obviously a faster possibility to get to Lviv, with a switching in Katovice (Poland). Departure from Vienna Meindlin with Eurocity Polonia is at 13:33 h. Arrival to Katovice at 18:52 h. Departure from Katovice with Lviv - Express at 19:15. Arrival to Lviv at 6:03 h of the next day (15,5 h in the road).

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ENTERING UKRAINE

You can plan your trip through Poland or Hungary. We recommend you to plan your trip to Ukraine through Budapest (Hungary). The distance between Vienna and Lviv (Lvov, Lemberg) is approximately 800 km and includes the border control. The whole road takes about 12 hours.

There is also a possibility to come to Ukraine through the new autobahn through Poland. In this case, we recommend you to pass the border control at Krakovets, so you make it faster to come to West Ukraine and Lviv (Lvov, Lemberg).

We would like to point out that crossings the border between EU and Ukraine might take a while if the touristic group will not be registered beforehand on-line by the responsible authority. Therefore REISEWELT UKRAINE offers you the full completion of formalities as a free add-on the tour package. In that way crossing the border for the guests will be more comfortable and will be handled much faster.

BUS LENGTH UKRAINE – MAXIMUM DIMENSION (SIZE) FOR TOURBUSES IN UKRAINE

You may often face different information/rules on dimensions of coaches for entering the territory of Ukraine even on the official pages of German organizations and authorities. REISEWELT UKRAINE informs you that there are no restrictions on the bus length in Ukraine. Of course, you can send us the dimensions of your bus/vehicle and we confirm entry (arriving or travel) options for you.

• In Ukraine, there are no restrictions on dimensions / bus length for tour buses.

 

ROAD FEES/ROAD TOLL/BUS TOLL IN UKRAINE

We would like to inform you that road tolls for the using of all roads in Ukraine are very cheap and its total costs are between 5 to maximum 50 EURO.

The road tolls are calculated by customs authorities at border control on the Ukrainian side.Your REISEWELT UKRAINE travel guide will take care of all those formalities (road list, road choice, entry and exit roads, etc.)

 TIP:  We always calculate some additional number of kilometers (KM) as a fund for any detours, roadblocks, some changes of the initial travel route, etc., In that case additional kilometers can come up. With adjusting some extra KM     we aim preventing you from any additional tolls when leaving from Ukraine (e.g. penalties at the border which can lead to considerable delays in the departure, particularly because of the complicated method of KM calculation;      additional payment on the base of the trip – documents and tachograf data.

  In addition, a small border control fee on the border has to be paid.

  Calculation of border control fee and the road toll for the Ukraine on bus entry:

Bus with 10 to 30 sitting places:

·         Control fee: 2 EUR

·         Road tolls / toll / road tax:0,02 EUR per km

Bus with over 30 sitting places:

·         Control fee: 5 EUR

·         Road tolls / toll / road tax:0,02 EUR pro km

  The toll fee and inspection fee has to be paid when passing over the borderline.  It’s paid in cash at the bank office onto the account of the customs authorities’ in whose area of responsibilities is the cross-border traveling.

 

TRAFFIC RULES UKRAINE

·         In Ukraine right-side traffic is obtained

·         Permitted speed limits / maximum allowed

Built-up areas:     60 / 80 km/h

Ordinary roads:    70 / 90 km/h

Highways:      90 / 110 km/h

·         Alcohol is totally forbidden (0,0 ‰)

 

  DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR THE BUS ENTRY UKRAINE 

  To enter Ukraine with the travel bus, bus drivers need to bring the following documents:

·         Registration certificate of the vehicle

·         2 x copies of the Licence of the transport authority (1 x at entry; 1 x at exit)

·         2 x copies of the  Interbus (EU) driving book (each page which were chosen for the current trip to Ukraine)

·         Green Insurance Card can be taken as an advantage

 

BUS CREW – ARRIVAL TO UKRAINE IS POSSIBLE WITH ONE BUS DRIVER

Here we would like to highlight that for bus tours in Ukraine there is NO rule of 2-drivers crew for the trip more than 500 km as in EU rules.

The State Administration for traffic of Ukraine informed, that the international AETR agreement does not foresee multi-drivers crew. Since Ukraine signed AETR agreement, therefore on the territory of Ukraine is valid the rule of the international agreement, according which it’s allowed to travel to Ukraine with only one driver.
