Isaac Stern was born in a Volhynian-Jewish family in the town of Kremenets (Krzemieniec) which is now the town in western Ukrain (Ternopil region). He was only 14 months old when his family moved to San Francisco in 1921, there the artist got his musical education and made the carrier.
Stern was one of the last great violinists of his generation, with more than 100 recordings of the most famous classical musicians in history. He was president of the Carnegie Hall Society and in the 50s prevented the demolition of the concert hall in New York. In 1979 he was awarded the Oscar for documentary film "From Mao to Mozart".
