Lesia Ukrainka (1871 –1913) a famous Ukrainian poet and writer, who shaped Ukrainian literature of the second part of the XIX century. Her mother was one of the first Ukrainian feminist, thus Lesia confessed this outlook in her life and art. Highly intelligent, she became a central figure of modern Ukrainian literature influencing several generations of writers. In her poems she was applying to the beauties of nature and in her novels she widely used motives of Greek mythology, Ukrainian folklore and bible plots. After years of Soviet propaganda, nowadays, there is a very few works in Ukrainian library which help to understand the phenomenon of Lesia Ukrainka and the meaning of her works in modern ukrainian cultural and political situation.
